Background

Dr. Ann Maureen McCaughan, Ph.D., LCPC, is an alumna of The Evergreen State College who grew up in the Olympia area. After earning her doctorate in Counselor Education and Counseling from Idaho State University in 2010, she relocated to the Midwest, where she served as both a counselor educator and practicing clinician. In 2022, Dr. McCaughan returned to the Pacific Northwest, bringing her experience in counselor education and clinical practice back to the region she has long considered home.

Dr. McCaughan鈥檚 teaching, scholarship and service focus on counselor development, clinical supervision, stress and burnout, gatekeeping and remediation, and program assessment and evaluation. As the program鈥檚 CACREP Liaison, she works collaboratively with program stakeholders to ensure ongoing compliance with national accreditation standards and to support continuous program improvement.

As a licensed clinician, Dr. McCaughan has worked with individuals, couples, families and groups across the lifespan. Her clinical areas of expertise include attachment, boundaries, stress and trauma, lifespan development, anxiety and depression.

Outside of her professional work, she enjoys traveling, reading, attending concerts, and spending time with friends and family.
